THE UNPAID MBOCH (part four)

“Dear world, I was made to love you. And all my life, I’ve done nothing but that. I have forgiven your misdeeds, moved past your flaws and still got beaten down to a pulp. If ever I made you proud, you never cared to show, and so with my head hung low, and feet hitting the pebbles, I choose to sign out. Do not judge me for protecting my child with my dying breath, I don’t wish this life upon him. Forgive me. Yours, Sandra”

Hearing the alarm ding for yet another day full of disappointment, Sandra wondered how long it would take before she took paper and penned down her note . She thought of how cruel the world would be to her, even beyond the grave. Wondering why she wouldn’t give her son a chance to a life full of chances ahead of him. They would never really understand all she wanted was the best for her son, that she wanted to be the best mum till her dying breath. She pondered this thoughts over and over till dusk was upon her again.

When dawn was upon her again, Sandra decided to take a leap of faith. With a heart full of hope, mind full of fear and pocket with barely enough for weeks, she set out into the unknown, her son by her side the road wide and endless ahead of them. The only note she left was, “the world is big and it is my duty to explore it and see what it has to offer.’

I would love to say it all turned out okay for Sandra and her son, but in honest truth, it got worse before it made sense. There were days harder than others but one thing that stands true was, perseverance unlocks opportunities. Sandra never married, she chose to be a mother first and she never looked back.
